It is important to choose a coach who has the credentials and the experience to coach you. My coaching is research based - not just based on my experience. Sure, I was an academic for a long time and I had a heavy teaching load and I published and took my holidays, but that is not the only thing, or event the main thing, that enables me to coach you to get effective results.
Getting to know how your coach's approaches to getting you where you need to go, and empowering you to develop the tools you need to claim joy in your academic career is crucial if you are to trust their processes, their training and strategies.
